This bright and colorful Easter charcuterie board makes a fresh and flavorful addition to any Easter holiday table. With plenty of sweet and savory elements, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on this impressive snacking board.

Charcuterie boards look fancy and professional, but they’re quite simple to make. If you’ve never made one, Easter is the perfect time to try. But this charcuterie board can easily be modified for any holiday or get-together.

Like my brie cake or this adorable hedgehog cheese ball, this Easter appetizer platter will make a huge splash at your party. Best of all, it only takes about 20 minutes to pull the whole charcuterie board together, so it’s perfect for a busy holiday when you’re short on time.

Why This Is the Best Easter Charcuterie Board

  • So easy: It’s really so simple to make a charcuterie board, and you don’t need to have any special skills to make it look beautiful and appetizing.
  • Something for everyone: I’ve included traditional grazing board elements like meat and cheese, some sweet items, and some savory items, so there’s something everyone can enjoy, even picky kids!
  • Really pretty, no-fail recipe: There’s no cooking involved and no way to mess this up! The hardest part is slicing your veggies, and it looks stunning when it’s all done.

Ingredients for an Easter Charcuterie Board

Meats, Cheeses, and Other Proteins

  • Cured meat – You can use pepperoni, prosciutto, ham, or a combination of your favorite salamis.
  • Cheese – Slice up gouda, havarti, or even brie cheese.
  • Beet pickled eggs – Beet pickled eggs have a beautiful pink exterior and look lovely on an Easter charcuterie board. Try my recipe here! Or look in the refrigerated foods of your grocery store or where you might find specialty and gourmet food items.

Crackers and Bread

  • Crackers – Your favorites are fine, but I like to include butter crackers, water crackers, and one kind of seeded cracker for flavor and color variety.
  • Baguette – Slice into thin rounds.
  • Cheddar Bunny Crackers – Annie’s makes the yummiest ones!

Fresh Produce

  • Carrots

  • Cucumbers

  • Endive

  • Fresh radishes

Spreads

  • Hummus – Your favorite flavor is fine.

Sweets

  • chocolate eggs and bunnies

Helpful Tools

Serving tray or platter

Knives and cutting board

Small bowls and jars

Small cheese knives, forks, and spoons

How to Make an Easter Charcuterie Board

Step 1: Prep the meat and cheese.

Using a very sharp knife and cutting board, but the cheese into pieces. You can make slices, cubes, and triangles for variety. Then, fold the meat into halves or quarters. You can also cut the eggs in half to reveal the yolks.

Step 2: Prep the veggies.

Clean and slice the rainbow carrots into small sticks. Cut the cucumbers, too. Slice the endives, and cut the radishes to create long, stick like wedges.

Step 3: Begin to fill your board.

Scoop jam and hummus into small jars or bowls and place them on your board first. Then, add stacks or piles of cheese around the board, wherever you would like. Next, do the same with the meat. Now, add the cracks in piles or rows along with the bread.

Step 4: Fill in the spaces.

Fill in the open spaces around the board. Rotate adding different items, starting near the center of the board and working your way outward. Add the veggies, grapes, and eggs. Scatter the mini eggs and pistachios into any remaining small spaces.

Best Boards for Making Charcuterie

I’m a firm believer that charcuterie is welcomed in all its forms, no matter how you plate it! So my best advice is to use what you have on hand. A large wooden board, a glass cake plate, or a piece of slate or marble work great!

If you want to be fancy about it, large wood cutting boards and serving platters are the typical choice. I like to look for interesting serving boards at home good stores like Winners and Marshalls. You can find really nice pieces to elevate your serving dish collection at a good price.

A few more ideas:

  • Sand down and clean a board you find in your basement or garage. Cover it with aluminum foil and colored napkins to hide the unfinished look.
  • Look around your house for extra pieces of flooring or ceramic tiles. Clean them down and you’re ready to go!
  • Use a serving tray. If you have a tea tray or other kind of serving tray, it will work well.
  • Hit up a resale shop or yard sale and look for rustic or vintage platters or trays.

More Easter Charcuterie Board Ingredient Ideas

Wondering which finger foods go well with a charcuterie board? You don’t have to use exactly what I did. Let the grocery store aisles speak to you, and choose whatever foods you love to eat! Here are more platter ideas:

  • Assorted cured meat like salami, prosciutto, and chorizo. Sometimes, you can find mixed packages. Costco typically has a great selection of meats.
  • Various types of cheese. You can slice your own bricks into small flat pieces, or cut them into cubes. You can also include soft cheese, like brie.
  • Breads, like chunky pieces of sour dough or mini naan rounds.
  • Spinach dip with tortilla chips
  • Berries (blueberries and strawberries are my favorite picks for charcuterie)
  • Dried apricots
  • Olives – Kalamata or stuffed olives are my favorites.
  • Pickles – You can add bread and butter pickle chips or even mini pickles in small dishes.
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Chocolate dipped strawberries (like these fun Easter themed strawberries!)
  • Fig jam
  • Red pepper jelly
  • Honey
  • Mustard, especially speciality mustard for spreading.
  • Sliced apples or pears
  • Figs or dates
  • Cornbread
  • Breadsticks
  • Caprese skewers made from mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and fresh basil.
  • Smoked salmon
  • Pepperoncini peppers
  • Veggie sticks, like bell peppers, carrots, and celery.

Easter Candy Charcuterie Board

If you want to make a Easter dessert charcuterie board, you can buy plenty of different Easter candies, cookies, and treats, and include them all on the board in place of the savory items. The method is the same: Set jars or bowls of dips and spreads on the board first (you can serve sweet breads with jam or cookie butter, for example). Then, begin adding items in small piles or rows around the board, filling from the inside out.

What Not to Put on a Charcuterie Board

While most finger foods can be put onto a charcuterie board, there are some items it’s best to avoid. Mostly, if the item might contaminate the other items on the board, you should probably avoid it. Here are some examples:

  • Really juicy fruits, like pineapple and watermelon, that might drip juice and allow it to pool around other foods.
  • Really acidic fruits like lemons, limes, and grapefruit, unless they’re just to decorate.
  • Strong flavored veggies that don’t mesh well with other foods, like Brussels sprouts or beets.
  • Items that are really spicy, since you may surprise some people with an unpleasant experience.

Tips for Making Perfect Cheese Boards

If you’re feeling intimidated by making your own charcuterie, trust me, it’s so much easier than you think! Here are some tips to help make sure your board is as pretty as a picture.

  • Buy high quality ingredients. You don’t have to buy the most expensive items, but this isn’t the time to skimp on low-quality deli meat and cheese.
  • You can use a variety of items to create a board that’s suitable for a large range of tastes and preferences. My ingredients list is a starting point, but don’t be afraid to branch out and be creative.
  • Make your charcuterie board within a few hours of serving it and keep it refrigerated.
  • Make sure you include small spoons, forks, or knives as needed to scoop dips, soft cheeses, and spreads.
  • You can include tiny signs for more obscure items, or if there are attendees that have allergies to foods you included on the board.
  • Bread may begin to dry out once it’s been cut, so you may want to store the slices in a Ziploc bag and add them to the board just before you serve it.

Serving Suggestions

This charcuterie board for Easter is a lovely addition to your brunch or family dinner. But the fun doesn’t have to stop there!

This same board can be repurposed for birthday celebrations, girls nights, game day, or any gathering with friends! If you have teenagers in the house, they’ll love serving this at their next sleepover, too.

You can easily adjust some of the items to be themed for different holidays and events.

Baby Shower or Gender Reveal Party – Include some baby-themed items, like Goldfish crackers and Animal cookies. Use a mixture of red, pink, and blue candies, gummy bears, and other fun kid-inspired treats. For a baby boy, decorate the platter with purple grapes, blueberries, and blue candies. For a girl, look for strawberries, raspberries, and pink and white jelly beans. Have fun and be imaginative!

Christmas Party – Include your favorite Christmas cookies and slices of fruit cake. Add a small bowl of red and green M&Ms and some mini candy canes. Add sprigs of fresh greenery and cranberries for extra holiday vibes.

Birthday Party – Include some mini cupcakes with sprinkles for a fun, celebratory touch. Cake pops can make the board extra special. Use cookie cutters on cheese to cut out numbers that represent the recipients age, or even their name. Tuck crinkled paper shreds here and there (the kind you tuck inside gift bags and baskets) to add a pop of color.

Notes

Storage Directions

At room temperature – Charcuterie boards that include meat and cheese shouldn’t be kept at room temperature for much longer than a few hours. Basically, once the party is done, wrap up all the leftovers and move them to the fridge.
In the refrigerator – You may be able to wrap the entire board with clean plastic wrap and store it in the fridge. But if needed, it might be wise to wrap up each item individually, or place the different elements in airtight containers. Store in the fridge. Try to eat up any leftovers within a day or two.
If your charcuterie board is really picked over, consider tossing the remaining leftovers, especially if there were a lot of people at your party or if they’ve been out of the fridge for more than 3-4 hours.
