Natural Dye Easter Eggs

Ingredients

Pink Eggs

  • 2 cups red beets roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups water
  • hard boiled eggs

Yellow Eggs

  • ¼ cup ground turmeric
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups water
  • hard boiled eggs

Green Eggs

  • 2 tbsp matcha green tea powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tbsp vinegar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • hard boiled eggs

Brown Eggs

  • 1 cup strong black coffee
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • hard boiled eggs

Blue Eggs

  • 2 cups purple cabbage roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups water
  • hard boiled eggs

Instructions

Pink Eggs

  • Place the beets, vinegar, salt and water into a pot and bring to a boil.
  • Simmer for 15 minutes, then remove the beets. Allow to cool.
  • Place the eggs into the liquid and leave for 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Remove from the liquid and allow to dry completely.

Yellow Eggs

  • Place the turmeric, vinegar, salt and water in a pot and simmer for 30 minutes. Then remove from the heat and cool.
  • Dip the hard boiled eggs into the liquid and leave for 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Remove from the liquid and allow to dry completely.

Green Eggs

  • Place the matcha green tea powder and salt in a bowl and mix. Add ½ cup water and fully dissolve the matcha. Add the remaining water and vinegar and mix to combine.
  • Add the eggs and soak for 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Then remove the eggs from the liquid and allow to dry completely.

Brown Eggs

  • Combine the coffee, vinegar and salt in a bowl.
  • Place the eggs in the liquid and let soak for 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Drain and allow the eggs to dry completely.

Blue Eggs

  • Place the cabbage, vinegar, salt and water in a pot. Bring it to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes. Strain the cabbage and allow the liquid to cool.
  • Dip the hard boiled eggs into the liquid and soak for 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Drain the eggs and allow them to dry completely.
