Take Super Bowl treats to a fun, girly new level with this PINK SPARKLY football made from rice krispie treats! If you’re a Taylor Swift fan who is now thrust into watching football games, this will bridge the gap! It’s football, but it’s pretty!
I chose to make one large football that’s roughly the size of an actual football, but you could always make mini footballs for easy snacking as you watch the game!
Ingredients for my Pink Rice Krispie Football
- pink edible glitter – I used the ultra sparkly type of edible glitter and I LOVE IT. You can get it here! It’s more glittery and less powdery than typical “luster dust” or “pearl dust” that you see used in lots of recipes. I applied it dry, but it can be liquified with a couple drops of lemon extract and it becomes very much like liquid metal, it’s so cool!
- pink food coloring – as always, Wilton has my heart and I used their Color Right set!
- marshmallows – I prefer mini marshmallows, just because they’re easier to measure!
- butter – you can use salted or unsalted butter! I typically stay away from salted butter in desserts, but because rice krispies are so sweet, you don’t notice the saltiness at all!
- buttercream – literally any kind that you have on hand. Store-bought even works because we’re using such a small quantity.
How to Make my Pink Rice Krispie Football
Step 1: Make the base!
In a large microwave-safe bowl, microwave the butter for 30-60 seconds, until melted. Add the marshmallows, mix to combine, then microwave for 1 to 1 ½ minutes, stopping halfway to stir. Heat until melted and smooth when stirred. Add the vanilla extract and a couple drops of pink food coloring and stir to fully combine.
Add the rice Krispies 2 cups at a time, until they are evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.
Step 2: Shape!
Cover your work surface with plastic wrap. Spray the plastic wrap lightly with cooking spray. Scoop the rice Krispies onto the sheet of plastic wrap. Then spray your hands with cooking spray and shape it into a football.
Step 3: Decorate.
Use a food-safe paintbrush to brush the edible glitter over the entire surface of the football. Then place the football in the fridge until it firms up, about 30 minutes.
Place the buttercream into a piping bag fitted with a medium-sized, flat piping tip. Pipe the stripes and stitching onto the football, then slice and serve!
