Dye and Decorate Easter Eggs
Ingredients
- eggs
- liquid food colouring
- electrical tape
Instructions
- First, hard boil the eggs. Place the eggs in a pot and submerge in cold water. Bring to a boil, uncovered, then remove from the heat and cover with a lid. Let sit for 12 minutes.
- Drain and rinse in cold water (this will make the eggs easier to peel). If you like, cut out little shapes from electrical tape and decorate the eggs.
- Add several drops of food colouring into glasses of water, and lower the eggs into the water with a spoon. Let sit for a couple seconds for a very pale colour or 5-10 minutes for a brighter colour. Or, rest the egg only halfway into the water to only dye half the egg. In the meantime, cut little holes in the bottom of an egg carton to create a drying rack for the eggs.
- Gently place each dyed egg onto the drying rack. Once the eggs have dried, peel the electrical tape off the eggs to reveal the design. If desired, dunk the eggs into another colour of water to dye the white area created by the tape.
