Place an oval of painter’s tape onto the “belly” of each hard boiled egg. Then place two small circles of tape onto the eggs as eyes. You can use a hole punch to easily cut these out of the painter’s tape!
Combine the water and vinegar in a glass. Add 1-2 drops of black food coloring and mix well.
Place the eggs into the glass one egg at a time. Allow the eggs to sit in the dye for a couple minutes, until they are a medium grey color.
Place them on a tray (or the egg carton they came in) to dry, then gently peel off the painter’s tape.
Use the black edible ink pen to draw Totoro’s pupils, nose, whiskers and fluffy tummy directly onto the eggshells. Enjoy!
