Hot Chocolate Piggies
If classic hot chocolate bombs aren’t rich enough to your taste, try these! These pigs are filled with homemade white chocolate ganache, which will give your hot chocolate a significantly creamier, more luxurious taste.

- 2 1/2 cups melted pink chocolate or candy melts see note
- Filling:
- 3 cups good quality white chocolate finely chopped
- 1/2 cup whipping cream hot
- pinch of salt
- ½ tbsp pink dragonfruit powder
- ¼ cup semisweet chocolate chips melted
- 1 tbsp white chocolate chips melted
Instructions
- Spread the melted pink chocolate onto the inside of an 8-cavity pig-shaped silicone mold, creating a chocolate shell. Place the mold in the fridge to set while you make the filling.
- To make the filling, place the finely chopped chocolate in a bowl and pour the hot whipping cream on top. Allow to sit for 5 minutes, then add the salt and stir until fully combined. Add the pink dragonfruit powder and mix until fully combined.
- Spoon the filling into the piggies, leaving about 1/8 inch of space. This is important! Return the mold to the fridge for the filling to semi-set, about 20 minutes.
- Fill the molds the remainder of the way with more melted pink chocolate. This will seal the filling into the piggies and prevent it from leaking out. This will also create a solid chocolate base so that the piggies can sit upright! Return the mold to the fridge to finish setting, about 1 hour.
- Unmold the piggies. Use a skewer or a toothpick to paint on the piggies’ eyes with the melted white and semisweet chocolate chips.
- To serve, place a pig in a pot and add 2 cups of milk. Bring the heat to medium and melt the piggy! You can also do this in a mug in a classic hot chocolate bomb-style with hot milk, however these piggies are quite large, so I recommend using one of those mega coffee mugs.
Notes
You can use pink-colored chocolate or candy melts for the shell of the piggies. I prefer pink-colored chocolate (you could also use ruby chocolate!) but it may be easier to find pink candy melts. If using pure chocolate, place the mold in the freezer for it to set. If using candy melts, the fridge will be fine as candy melts don’t require as cold a temperature to harden.
