Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 5 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 5 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 1 cup Reese’s peanut butter candies
  • ½ cup Halloween sprinkles
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a pot over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and mix until fully melted. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla extract.
  • Add the rice krispies and mix well. Then add the candies and sprinkles and mix well.
  • Generously spray two 8x8” dishes or one 9x13” baking dish with cooking spray. Pour the mixture into the dish(es) and press firmly to flatten. You can add extra candies at this point, if desired.
  • Cool completely at room temperature, then slice and enjoy!

Notes

Storage Directions
  • At room temperature - Cool the treats to room temperature before slicing and storing them in an airtight container for up to 5 days. 
  • In the freezer - These rice crispy treats, Halloween style can also be frozen in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Defrost them at room temperature for 1 hour until softened.
 
Recipe Success Tips
  • Use a non-stick pot. This will help keep the Krispie mixture from sticking to the bottom and sides of it. If you don’t have a non-stick pot, mix the marshmallows and rice cereal in a mixing bowl sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. 
  • Stir the marshmallows while melting. Ensure the smoothest melting and creamiest marshmallow mixture by stirring them consistently as they melt.
  • Work quickly. The marshmallow mixture does set quickly as it cools, making the treats harder to mix. So, stir in the vanilla, cereal, and candies quickly as soon as the marshmallows are melted.
  • Gently stir in the candies. Folding them gently into the Rice Krispie mix prevents them from breaking or melting.
  • Keep the mixture from sticking to your hands. Marshmallows make the mixture extra sticky. For the easiest time, spray your hands with non-stick cooking spray or place parchment paper on the treats before pressing.
