Coconut Hot Chocolate | ココナッツのホットチョコ

Bring the summer back with this creamy coconut hot chocolate! The combination of coconut milk and regular milk provide the ideal level of creaminess and the perfect hint of coconut, and the Nutella and coconut shaving-coated rim adds such a sense of indulgence and decadence. If you have a sweet tooth like me, I’d definitely recommend using milk chocolate. If you’d prefer a less sweet version, then you can use dark chocolate instead! Be careful not to overheat the milk, because there is a risk that the milk will curdle. If it curdles, simply pour it through a sieve to remove the curdled milk. I didn’t do this in my video, which is why the milk has little white specks in it.

Ingredients (serves 2-4)
❤ 2 cups coconut milk (not cream)
❤ 2 cups regular milk
❤ ½ tsp vanilla extract
❤ 100g dark or milk chocolate
❤ Nutella
❤ coconut shavings

1. Pour the coconut milk and regular milk into a pot and set to medium low heat. Heat until the milk becomes hot, but does not come to a boil. If the milk curdles, then pour it through a sieve. You’ll see that I didn’t do this in the video, which is why the milk is uneven in colour.
2. Add and fully melt the dark or milk chocolate in the pot. Then add a few drops of vanilla extract if desired.
3. Spread some Nutella onto the rims of both of the mugs. Then dip the rims into a bowl of shredded coconut.
4. Pour the hot chocolate into the mugs, and you’re done!
